FGCU: From Underdog to Top Dog

Florida Gulf Coast Universtiy; ever heard of them? Probably not. This little school that is located in Fort Meyers Florida is taking the NCAA Toutrnament by storm. The FGCU Eagles are now known as "Dunk City" in most parts of the world outside of Fort Myers. So far the Eagles have knocked off 8th seeded Georgetown (not shocking, seeing that no matter how strong Georgetown is they always lose in the first round) and 7th seeded San Deigo State University.

Florida Gulf Coast University was Founded in 1997, and was admitted to the NCAA Division I only 6 years ago. This is their first year in the NCAA tourney. So far both teams that they have knocked out of the tournament have future NBA star loaded rosters: Otto Porter, Georgetown's alley-oop throwing, acrobatic finisher, and San Deigo State sharp shooter Jaamal Franklin. Both wins are attributed to point guard Brett Comer and shooting guard Sherwood Brown. We'll have to watch how effective they can be against their in-state rivals in the sweet Sixteen.
