POINT/COUNTER POINT: IS POWER SHIFTING FROM SPAIN TO GERMANY

Point: For years Spain was dominating world football because of two teams - Real Madrid and Barcelona - but now Germany has improved and is now superior of the two. Recently in the UEFA champion Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund humiliated Spanish teams Barcelona and Real Madrid with a combining score of 8-1. German football has always been underestimated in Europe but they had enough and showed Spain who's in charge with a extravagant victory in the crucial stages of the Champions League.

Both Spanish teams are disappointed with the match, especially Real Madrid who were the favors of winning the Champion League because of their long history of being victorious in the competition. They have won the most cups (9) and were the first to ever acquire the notorious trophy in 1956. It seems the Germans can't be stopped especially Bayern Munich who only lost once this year and already won their league in Munich. It seems like it's mission impossible for both the Spanish teams. I predict one of the German teams to clinch the cup and bring Germany what they deserve:  the respect, the cup, and the title of being called the best in world football.
-----Mohamed Adaan

Counterpoint: I believe that power is not shifting from Spain to Germany. Borussia Dortmund and FC Bayern Munich might have defeated the two Spanish giants by scoring 8 goals total on them in the first leg but that doesn't mean that the Bundesliga is a stronger league than La Liga. Barcelona and Real Madrid were both not at their best.

Real Madrid and Barcelona accomplished way more then any team in the Bundesliga did in the last 20 or so years. They have dominated the world of football for a very long time now. One game does not determine anything. Spain also won 3 major trophies since 2008. One major trophy they won is the world cup. The world cup is the biggest trophy any international team can win.

Look at the records and you will see how superior Spanish football is. Just because of one game it doesn't determine if a teams better or not. You look at the overall performance and excitement to determine if a team is superior or not. In this situation Spanish teams has the skill and performances of a world class team.

The Yankees beat the Twins 6-3 at target field. The first inning the Twins were playing with full confidence. The Yankees didn't give up and hit four home runs to win the game. Their pitcher Andy Pietter was the cause why they won the game.
Both teams were struggling at first but got the hang of it the second inning. Granderson threw from the center of the field after fielding a two out single as Ryan Doumit raced from second base to home.
Raul Ibanez made a home runner right after Ryan.
In the locker room Andy was proud of his players. He said they play with full strength while they are on the field. But he said the biggest thing that makes us keep on going is our bench and telling us to not give up and putting our hopes up.

Kobe Bryant

Kobe Bean Bryant named after a Japanese Steakhouse is a young athlete born in Philadelphia, PA.
Kobe is the son of a former NBA player Joe "Jellybean" Bryant. In 1984 Joe Jellybean ended his career moving the entire family to Italy where he played in an Italian League. Growing up Kobe had a passion for soccer, in fact he wanted to play for a professional soccer team in Italy. The family later returned to Philadelphia in 1991, Kobe attended Lower Marion high school where he joined the high school's basketball team, leading them to the State Championship four years in a row.

Kobe was drafted into the NBA straight from High school. In 1996 he was picked be Charlotte Bobcats, he was later traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. He was voted to become a starter in NBA all star game, becoming the youngest NBA All Star Player of all time. Bryant went to help his team win three consecutive championships and voted first team all-NBA in the 2002-2003 season.

Later on after the Lakers won the NBA championship, Kobe was accused of raping a hotel worker in Colorado. The case against Kobe was dismissed in 2004. Kobe was really having a hard time bouncing back from that false accusations.

Kobe recovered from that and he helped his team get back in shape for the 2007-2008 season. Kobe helped his team get to the finals, but they were defeated by the Boston Celtics. Bryant played on the U.S. Olympic team winning two consecutive gold medals in 2008 and 2012.

John Stockton

John Stockton was undoubtedly one of the greatest point’s guards to ever play the game of basketball. Ever. Stockton played with such fluid and smooth ability, John Stockton's list of accomplishments and accolades are a testament to that.

John Stockton averaged a career double-double, with 13.1 points and 10.5 assists per game. He holds the NBA's record for most career assists (15,806) by a gargantuan margin of more than 3,000, as well as the record for most career steals (3,265). He had five of the top six assists seasons in NBA history (the other belonging to Isaiah Thomas). He holds the NBA record for the most seasons, games, and consecutive games played with one team, and is third in total games played, behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Robert Parish. He missed only 22 games during his career, 18 of them in one season. He played in 38 games where he tallied 20 or more assists. It has been an agreed on by fans and commentators alike that john Stockton played some of the grittiest, toughest basketball that the league has ever seen, all the while being the humblest guy on the court

John Stockton also known as "stock" was born March 26, 1962 to  Clementine Frei and Jack Stockton. Stockton is of Irish and Swiss ancestry (which not to shockingly explains his gritty yet humble demeanor). he played college ball at Gonzaga university in his hometown of Spokane, Washington. But in order to Stockton you have understand how he played smooth, never flashy, consistency over prettiness. Once you understand that you'll understand the enigma that was john Stockton. He never won an NBA championship, but he played every game like it was a championship game and with heart. And that's why to this day he is still admired by fans all over the world.

He's not in his prime anymore but he still has problems retiring. Iverson, known for his crossovers, has an abused and broken body. He has problems with money and recently lost his Atlanta Mansion to foreclosure. I think it'll be better if he retired.

Lionel Messi

Lionel Messi is considered to be the best player in the world because of the way he plays the beautiful game. He has 4 Ballon d'Or (footballer of the year award)  trophies to his  name. In 2012, he set a record with most goals scored in a calender year. He's an iconic superstar.

Lionel Messi was born on June 24, 1987, in Rosario, Argentina.  Lionel Messi's footballing career started in 1995 at Newell's Old Boys, where he played until the year 2000. At the age of 13, Lionel Messi moved to Spain after FC Barcelona agreed to pay for his hormone deficiency treatment. Hormone deficiency is a medical condition that is caused by problems in the pituitary gland. The body does not produce enough growth hormone.

Messi made spectacular progress at each of the different age levels. He made his way through Barcelona C squad and Barcelona B. He made it in the first team in record time. Many were amazed by this youngster.

In the 2004-2005 season, Messi made his debut against Porto in a friendly. He was only 16 at that time. He was the first Barcelona player to score a goal at this young age. That same year, he led Argentina to the title in the under-20 world cup.

As time went by, Lionel Messi improved and progressed. He grew 5 feet 7 inches. He played like the legend known as Diego Maradona. He once scored a goal against Getafe that was almost identical to the goal Maradona scored against England in the world cup. He started his run (Messi) from the half way line making his way through the Getafe Players to score one of the best goals in history.

Lionel Messi is a wonderful player. He's also a humble person. I believe that he will be the best player that ever lived.

Didier Yves Drogba Tébily

Didier Yves Drogba Tébily known as Drogba is an Ivorian soccer player who currently plays on a team in the Turkish league called Galacasaray. He is a excellent player and the fans love him. He is already being called a legend all over the world especially at Chelsea. They miss him. He is a very kind and humble man making a foundation that gives food and water to those in need in Africa. After being asked why he said "You have to remember who you are and where you came from in order to be the best".

Didier Drogba was born in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. When he was 5 he went to France by his parents to live with his uncle, Michel Goba, a professional footballer. However, Drogba soon became homesick and returned to Abidjan after three years. He played football every day in a car park in the city but his return to Côte d'Ivoire was short lived. "He really loved soccer it was his hobby," his mom said. Both of his parents lost their jobs and he again returned to live with his uncle. In 1991 he went to France to play for a youth team but this time with his parents. It was here that he began playing team football more frequently, joining a local youth side. Drogba began his career as a junior player at the semi-professional club Levallois, gaining a reputation as a deadly scorer in the youth team and impressing the coach mainly because of his good attitude. His performances earned him a place in the senior squad but even when he scored in his debut, the 18-year-old Ivorian failed to make a good impression on Jacques Loncar, the first team coach.

Manchester City vs Manchester United

Manchester City faced Manchester United in Old Trafford on Monday. The game went Manchester City's way; winning 2-1. James Milner and Sergio Aguero both scored for Manchester City. An own goal from Vincent Kompany gave Manchester United a chance, but Sergio Aguero's goal sealed the win for Manchester City.

The first goal came from James Milner were Gareth Barry crossed it in and the ball came off Samir Nasri to give James Milner the chance. James Milner's strike gave Manchester City the lead. He celebrated with a joyful celebration. Vincent Kompany Brought Manchester United back into the game when he accidentally made contact with the ball from a cross I believe.  Sergio Aguero scored the goal that would win the game for Manchester City. He broke through the defense and blasted the ball into the back of the net.

The last minutes of the game was intense because Manchester United tried to find ways to score. More yellow cards were shown in the last 5 minutes more than they were shown throughout the whole match. Zabaleta made a bad tackle were he reached out to get the ball but he made contact with another player, causing him to receive a yellow card.

The game ended and the Manchester United players quickly rushed off the pitch. The Manchester City players stayed on the pitch, celebrating their victory over Manchester United. Players were shown walking off the pitch smiling because of their victory.

Blackhawks vs Wild

On April 9th 2013 the Chicago Blackhawks defeat the Minnesota Wild the game ended with 1-0. the Wild put up a nice game Niklas Backstrom had about 30 saves on that game. The most crazy part of this game when Hossa looked like a bears defensive linebacker jumping in front of the wide receivers route when he darted in front of  Clayton Stoner's seemingly harmless breakout pass toward Mikko Koivu in the Wild zone. And that was the most interesting part of the game

And Hossa didn't stop to that he intercepted the bouncing pass in front of the blue line, skated up the middle and snapped a shot past goalie Niklas Backstrom's stick with 4:46 left before the second intermission. On that night Hossa's moves were unpredictable. he even went crazy into scoring his first goal since March 16 at Dallas. He missed six games in that scoreless stretch because of an upper body injury, but Hossa is still second on the team with 14 goals.

The first team to get a for sure spot in the playoffs is the Blackhawks, the Blackhawks outshot the wild 31-20 moving them up to secure there spot in the westren confrence playoffs. The Blackhawks are 16-2-2 by far the best in the mark in the league and also the Blackhawks coach  Joel Quenneville said that Corey Crawford could play again he is 100% healthy hopefully this year the Blackhawks will take it home

The 2008 Oplympics; Michael Phelps

It has been 5 years now since the Olympics of Michael Phelps's gold victory. His 22nd metals to decorate his house all around. Right before he was about to race for his final gold, Michael slipped his earphones in calming his nerves for a greater winning advantage. Ready to face his most fearful opponent Ian Crocker; who holds the world record. You can see the shiver running down his spine, giving him goosebumps. You can only imagine how he's feeling. Especially because he lost to him just in the previous matches. Out of all the competitors, he's the one in Phelps's mind.

As the swimmers are lumbering slowly towards the starting line, you see Michael being the first in line. Almost as if he just wants to get over with, possibly because of the pressure from his country and fans. The booming noise comes from head top of the scoreboard, and the swimmers rush their whole bodies into the water like a thirsty beast that hasn't seen water in years. At this point, silence strikes and the people stand. The only thing in sight are legs leaving off the starting point with blast. The question in everyone's mind? Why is Michael already in the 5th place? Will he catch up and bring victory home?

Two minutes into the match and the struggle is obvious. To those that can't swim, drowning will be the first to mind. Michael slowly starts to pass his opponents, with his butterfly move in motion. 4th, 3rd, and now slowly in second place. To no surprise, Crocker was in lead, but not by very much. Time slows down and now we hit 3 minutes into the match. Michael puts all of his effort and slowly but surely, his takes the lead. Crocker now paces quickly almost taking number one, but time wasn't in his favor. Because Michael takes the ground and finishes first.

OKC vs Knicks

This night was important night for both teams. One had a hot streak and the other was wobbling and racing for the 1st seed. In the end the fiery team ( Knicks ) won this memorable match up.

OKC's fast breaks, dimes, and dishes led them for the the first three quarters but in the fourth the lost to the rumbling and streaking Knicks. The KD and 'Melo match up was intense but the momentum shifted to 'Melo's side. This momentum gave him the game and a slight lead in the league scoring.

'Melo leads the league in scoring with 28.7 per game and KD has 28.4. 'Melo never won a scoring title and KD is seeking his fourth. In my opinion I say that the next few games left will be interesting.

Michagan vs Louisville: Best title game in recent years

We all witnessed one of the greatest sporting spectacles on the planet this Monday, the NCAA      Championship game between first seeded behemoth, Louisville and the comeback kids, Michigan. The game boasted important celebrities such as the Fab Five, the team that one the tourney back in '93, but had the championship expunged due to a violation of NCAA financial ordinances, and Kate Upton well known sports illustrated model and Bill Russell, the Michigan Alum and NBA giant.

What a game! Absolutely spectacular play from no doubt two of the best teams in this century, Michigan’s iron willed consensus college player of the year Trey Burke played remarkably well scoring 24 points, early on Burke had the griddle iron hot hand scoring effortlessly. But got into foul trouble after the media time out, to the dismay of Michigan’s fans. But little Spike Albrecht, who only averaged 1 point a game the whole season stepped up and hit 3 consecutive threes, holding onto to Michigan’s lead

But Louisville had bad man intentions. Luke Hancock decided to put out Spikes fire, by hitting FOUR consecutive threes.Peyton Siva could not be stopped, he kept on getting paint points and free throws, and in the end the better tesm did not win, the team with more stamina won. and Loiusville took the game.

Kansas City Royals Verus Minnesota Twins

The Royals defeated the Twins on Monday, April 8th. The score, Royals with three and the Twins with one. The Twins started the lead in the first inning. The next seven inning nothing no home scored, on the eighth inning the Royals scored three points, which made them beat the Twins.

The Twins had another opportunity to beat the Royals on Tuesday, April 9th, but they lost another game against the Royals. The Royals scored five points in the first inning, and the Twins only scored one. Both teams score one point in each of the second and third innings. The Twins scored another point in the fifth inning to make the score four to seven. The Royals won!

On Wednesday, April 10th, they faced each other one more time and again the Royals won. The Royals started out with one point in the first inning and scored two in the seventh . The Royals won with the score zero to three. Royals defeated the Twins. The Royals are a good team that knows how to hit the ball and catch it. The Twins on the other hand are not bad but could get better. These two teams will face each other on June 4th to June 6th. I hope the Twins get better so it could be an exciting game.

Jimmy smith vs Michael Crabtree

Throughout the entire game both players had phenomenal plays, Jimmy who received many interceptions or Michael who received many yards and touchdowns. But at the end of the day, only one was fated to win, and that was Jimmy and the Ravens. I will explain what happened. Close to the end of the fourth quarter with many excited fans and players panting and trying to achieve victory with nothing but one obstacle in their way, that one touchdown.

The quarterback for San Fransisco was ready to hike the ball and get the game in motion as Michael and Jimmy stared at each other, waiting for one of them to move. Finally, he hiked the ball and Michael started running with Jimmy in front of him. Michael kept getting closer and closer with every second. Finally he reached the end zone and and was waiting for the ball. It was thrown his way. Michael attempted to move but something was restricting him.

As Michael attempted to move Jimmy was holding him. Michael tried to reach the ball with his one hand. He got a hold on it, and tried to bring it closer but Jimmy hit the ball of his hand. As the final second ended, refs looked to see if he had possession but to no avail the ball was on the floor with no one on it. Cheers were heard, players looked to see if they had won, San Fran had lost, it was game over and Ravens had won the Superbowl.

Arsenals VS Tottenham Hotspurs

www.espn.com/arsenal
Arsenal is my favorite team. I love them since i was a little boy and I will be loyal and support them till I die. They are not having a great season currently sitting on 5th place in the British primers league right below their bitter rivals Tottenham HotSpur. Both teams have very hard fixtures coming up and the big question everyone is asking is who will clinch the top 4 spot and go to the champions league next season.

As a Arsenal fan I obviously support the gunners Arsenal but the media has a change of mind. For years Arsenal and Tottenham has been rival. They both had a game recently and I believe Tottenham got lucky it was the first time they won a derby in 5 years. It was At White Heart lane Tottenham stadium the atmosphere was ridiculous you can't even hear yourself think. All you hear is the crowd roaring with excitement. So obviously they had the upper hand but that win still doesn't mean anytime it was luck.

It's hard to see who will do the impossible but I support Arsenal all day!! We have more quality players all they have is an overrated monkey named Bale. So basically put your bets on Arsenal trust me you will make a lot of money. Go gunners!!!
