LARRY BYRD NBA LEGEND

   

 Born on December 7, 1956 in a little town called West Bedan Springs, Indiana Larry Byrd was an all American raised in a nearby town of French Lick were he excelled at basketball at a very early age. Byrd attended sprigs valley high school in French Lick and was a key component of the high school basketball team. becoming it's lead all time scorer by the time he graduated in 1974 his high school stats earned him a scholarship.

 To the one and only university of Indiana were he was to play for legendary coach Bob Knight. Bird felt some trepidation at the size of Hoosier campus withdrew from the school in rolling at Indiana state the next year. In Byrd's senior he led Indiana state sycamores to the NCAA championships against the Michigan state Spartans who were also led by another future NBA superstar ErvIn "Magic"Johnson.

 It was the first time that the two superstars would go to a head-to-head battle and it begone a friendship and a rivalry that would span both players. Johnson took the win that year but Byrd left Indiana state that year with the USBWA collage player of the year award, Naismith award, and the wooden award and became the highest scorer in NCAA history. Even Theo he played for three year's that next year 1978 Larry Byrd was the Boston Celtics No. 1 pick of the NBA draft signing a contract for 650,000 a record back then.
